Dr. Phillip El-Duah

Scientific Coordinator, Charité

Philip is a postdoctoral research scientist at the Institute of Virology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin, Berlin and also affiliated with the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research into Tropical Medicine (KCCR) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He has previously worked on antimicrobial resistance profiles of clinical isolates of E. coli as well as Treponema pallidum pertenue which causes yaws, a neglected tropical disease in Ghana.

His PhD studies delved into the role of livestock as intermediate hosts for the transmission of coronaviruses with zoonotic potential. Dr. Philip El-Duah also works at the Pan-African Network for Rapid Research, Response, Relief and Preparedness for Infectious Disease Epidemics (PANDORA-ID-NET) where his work involves coordinating collaborative research activities between the Institute of Virology, Charité and KCCR looking into the influence of virus-specific diagnostics on the outcome of encephalitis in a resource-limited clinical setting.

Philip El-Duah, based in Ghana, is currently a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Charité. Philip El-Duah brings experience from previous roles at Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR), Institut of Virology, University Hospital Bonn, KNUST School of Medical Sciences and Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology, College of Science, KNUST.Philip El-Duah holds a 2015 – 2019 Doctor of Philosophy – PhD in Clinical Microbiology @ Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. With a robust skill set that includes Infectious Diseases, Microsoft Office, Lecturing, Microbiology, Science and more.
