Verena Struckmann has been a Research Associate at the Department of Health Care Management since October 2012. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in European Public Health at Maastricht University and the University of Malmö and a Master of Public Health at Freie Universität Berlin, she completed her doctorate in Public Health at the Technical University of Berlin.

Since 2024, Verena Struckmann has headed the Global Health Division at the Department of Health Care Management. In July 2025, she received a research fellowship from the Charité Center for Global Health and the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence. As partof her work at the Department of Health Care Management, she is currently involved in several projects in the field of Global Health and has been a member of the Global Health PhD Steering Committee since 2024. She also contributes to projects of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, primarily focusing on integrated care and person-centred care.

Her teaching focuses on Global Health and One Health. She has co-developed a Global Health master’s module, a short Global Health security short course and several One Health short courses. In addition, she serves as a guest lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Verena combines quantitative and qualitative methods of datacollection and analysis in her research, with a particular emphasis on qualitative methods.
